No Tickets

Working at a theater box-office ticket window poses many challenges in dealing with people.

When a disgruntled customer at a window exclaimed, "No Tickets? What do you mean NO TICKETS?"

The women waiting on him smiled sweeting. "I'm terribly sorry, sir," she replied. "Which word didn't you understand?"

Blonde Complaint Letter

The complaint letter from Judi:We blonds at the ofise are tired of all the the dum stoopid jokes about us. We think this is hairassment. It causes us grate stress and makes our roots turn dark. We have hired a loyer and he is talking to the loyers at Clairol. We will take this all the way to the supream cort if we have two. Juj Thomas knos all about hairassment and he will be on are side.

We have also talked to the govner to make a new law to stop this pursicushun. We want a law that makes peepol tell brewnet jokes as much as blond jokes and every so often a red head joke. If we don't get our way we will not date anybody that ain't blond and we will make up jokes about you and we will laff. Sined by the blonds at the ofise (sine with a penseel so you can erace it if you make a mistake)

Officer Fitness Reports

British Military Officer Fitness Reports

The British Military writes OFR's (officer fitness reports). The form used for Royal Navy and Marines fitness reports is the S206. The following are actual excerpts taken from people's "206's"....

  • His men would follow him anywhere, but only out of curiosity.
  • I would not breed from this Officer.
  • This Officer is really not so much of a has-been, but more of a definitely won't-be.
  • When she opens her mouth, it seems that this is only to change whichever foot was previously in there.
  • He has carried out each and every one of his duties to his entire satisfaction.
  • He would be out of his depth in a car park puddle.
  • Technically sound, but socially impossible.
  • This Officer reminds me very much of a gyroscope - always spinning around at a frantic pace, but not really going anywhere.
  • This young lady has delusions of adequacy.
  • When he joined my ship, this Officer was something of a granny; since then he has aged considerably.
  • This Medical Officer has used my ship to carry his genitals from port to port, and my officers to carry him from bar to bar.
  • Since my last report he has reached rock bottom, and has started to dig.
  • She sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them.
  • He has the wisdom of youth, and the energy of old age.
  • This Officer should go far - and the sooner he starts, the better.
  • In my opinion this pilot should not be authorized to fly below 250 feet.
  • The only ship I would recommend this man for is citizenship.
  • Works well when under constant supervision and cornered like a rat in a trap
  • This man is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot.
  • Only occasionally wets himself under pressure

The Office Game

Here's a way to spice up your office. Pick two or three colleagues and agree to play the Office Game which awards points as follows:

ONE POINT

  • Run one lap around the office at top speed.
  • Walk sideways to the photocopier.
  • Find the vacuum and start vacuuming around your desk.
  • When they're not looking, pour most of someone's fresh cup of coffee into your mug leaving them with an inch of brew.
  • Ignore the first five people who say 'good morning' to you.
  • Phone someone in the office you barely know, leave your name and say "Just called to say I can't talk right now. Bye."
  • To signal the end of a conversation, clamp your hands over your ears and grimace.
  • While riding an elevator, gasp dramatically every time the doors open.

THREE-POINTS

  • Babble incoherently at a fellow employee then ask "Did you get all that, I don't want to have to repeat it." - Double points if you do this to a manager.
  • Kneel in front of the water cooler and drink directly from the nozzle.
  • Shout random numbers while someone is counting.

FIVE POINTS

  • At the end of a meeting, suggest that, for once, it would be nice to conclude with the singing of the national anthem (extra points if you actually launch into it yourself).
  • Walk into a very busy person's office and while they watch you with growing irritation, turn the light switch on/off 10 times.
  • For an hour, refer to everyone you speak to as 'Bob'.
  • Announce to everyone in a meeting that you "really have to go do number two".
  • After every sentence, say 'mon' in a really bad Jamaican accent. As in, "the report's on your desk, mon". Keep this up for one hour.
  • While an office mate is out, move their chair into the elevator.
  • In a meeting or crowded situation, slap your forehead repeatedly and mutter, "Shut up, all of you just shut up!"
  • In a colleague's diary, write in 10 am: "See how I look in tights".
  • Carry your laptop over to your colleague and ask "You wanna trade?"
  • Repeat the following conversation 10 times to the same person: "Do you hear that?" "What?" "Never mind, it's gone now"
  • Come to work in army fatigues and when asked why, say, "I can't talk about it"
  • Speak with an accent (French, German, Porky Pig, etc.) during a very important conference call.
  • Tuck one pant leg into your sock and when queried, answer, "not now" and walk away.

Monosyllabia

After interviewing a particularly short-spoken job candidate, I described the person to my boss as rather monosyllabic. My boss said, "Really? Where is Monosyllabia?". Thinking that he was just kidding, I played along and said that it was just south of Elbonia. He replied, "Oh, you mean over by Croatia?"

Resume Mistakes

These are from actual resumes:

  • "Personal: I'm married with 9 children. I don't require prescription drugs."
  • "I am extremely loyal to my present firm, so please don't let them know of my immediate availability."
  • "Qualifications: I am a man filled with passion and integrity, and I can act on short notice. I'm a class act and do not come cheap."
  • "I intentionally omitted my salary history. I've made money and lost money. I've been rich and I've been poor. I prefer being rich."
  • "Note: Please don't misconstrue my 14 jobs as 'job-hopping'. I have never quit a job."
  • "Number of dependents: 40."
  • "Marital Status: Often. Children: Various."

RESUME BLOOPERS

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • "I was proud to win the Gregg Typting Award."

SPECIAL REQUESTS & JOB OBJECTIVES

  • "I procrastinate - especially when the task is unpleasant."

  • "Donating blood. 14 gallons so far."

SMALL TYPOS THAT CAN CHANGE THE MEANING

  • "Education: College, August 1880-May 1984."
  • "Work Experience: Dealing with customers' conflicts that arouse."
  • "Develop and recommend an annual operating expense fudget."
  • "I'm a rabid typist."
  • "Instrumental in ruining entire operation for a Midwest chain operation."

Bosses Versus Workers

When I take a long time, I am slow.
When my boss takes a long time, he is thorough.

When I don't do it, I am lazy.
When my boss doesn't do it, he's too busy.

When I do it without being told, I'm trying to be smart.
When my boss does the same, that is initiative.

When I please my boss, that's brown-nosing.
When my boss pleases his boss, that's co-operating.

When I do good, my boss never remembers.
When I do wrong, he never forgets.

The Copier Handout

In most offices, the photocopier is out of order every now and then. One copy repairman had answered question after question for the employees. Finally one day, he just smiled and handed them this sheet.

The copier is out of order!
Yes, we have called the service man.
Yes, he will be in today.
No, we cannot fix it.
No, we do not know how long it will take.
No, we do not know what caused it.
No, we do not know who broke it.
Yes, we are keeping it.
No, we do not know what you are going to do now.

Thank You
