Terms of use
In short
- Jokes2Go is free. You can read it without an account; to submit content, comment, vote and save things you need an account, and to have an account you must be at least 16.
- What you submit stays yours, but you let us publish it, edit it where needed and share it — on the site and on our social media profiles.
- A joke may be dark, mean and in bad taste. It may not be a call to hatred, a threat, spam or someone else's personal data.
- A person reviews every joke, story and meme before it is published. Comments go live right away and are watched by a word filter and by readers' reports.
- You can delete your account yourself in your settings at any time.
This summary does not replace the terms below.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
The website jokes2go.net, its subdomains and the app you can install from it (together: Jokes2Go or the site) are run by Splendido Solutions d.o.o., Stjepana Vukovića 8b, 42000 Varaždin, Croatia, VAT ID HR42172723674 ("we", "us").
These terms govern the relationship between you and us. They apply to everyone who visits the site, and in full to everyone who opens an account. By using the site you accept these terms; if you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. How we handle personal data is described in our separate Privacy policy.
2. What Jokes2Go is
Jokes2Go is an entertainment site: a collection of jokes, funny memes and stories that readers have been sending in for years.
The humor on the site includes satire, dark humor, jokes that play on stereotypes and jokes for adults. The content is not a statement of fact, news or advice, and it does not express our views. If that kind of humor is not for you, skip the categories that bother you or do not use the site.
3. Who may use the site
- Reading is free and needs no account. Some content, especially jokes for adults, is not suitable for children. The site does not check readers' ages, so parents and guardians are responsible for what minors view.
- You may open an account if you are at least 16 years old. By registering, you confirm that you are. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will close it.
- A person whose account we have permanently blocked for breaking these terms may not open or use an account.
4. Your account
- To register you need a username, an email address and a password. We do not ask for your real name. The email address must be yours and valid, because we send security alerts and password reset instructions to it.
- Your username is public: it is shown with everything you publish and on your public profile. It cannot be changed later, so choose it carefully. A username that insults, impersonates another person, the editors or Jokes2Go, or is misleading is not allowed; we may refuse such a name and close the account.
- Your public profile shows your username, when you joined, and the jokes, stories, memes and comments you have published. Your email address is never public.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details safe and for everything done from your account. Do not share your password or use it on other sites. We recommend two-factor authentication (2FA) with a passkey, which you can turn on in your settings. If you suspect that someone else is using your account, change your password immediately and let us know.
- One person may not use several accounts to get around a block, influence voting or mislead others.
5. Content you submit
5.1. What you can submit
Logged-in users can submit jokes, stories and memes, comment, vote, report inappropriate content and save content for later.
5.2. What you guarantee
By submitting content, you guarantee:
- that you are allowed to share it: that it is yours, that it is a folk joke or free-to-use content, or that you have the author's permission;
- that it does not infringe anyone else's rights: copyright, trademarks, privacy, honor or reputation;
- that it does not contain other people's personal data, or recognizable photos of private individuals who have not agreed to it;
- that it complies with the rules of conduct in section 6.
5.3. Your rights and the permission you give us
Content you submit remains yours. By submitting it, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide right, lasting as long as the content is protected, to:
- publish it and make it available to the public on the site and in the app, and copy and store it for that purpose;
- adapt it: correct spelling mistakes, change the title, categories or content type, shorten it, change the size and format of an image, and make an image out of a text for publication;
- publish it on the official Jokes2Go social media profiles (currently Facebook, Instagram and Threads) and use it to promote the site;
- grant the providers of those networks the permissions their terms require for such a post.
On the site, content is published with your username. You agree that on social media it may also be published without it. We do not pay for submitted or published content.
5.4. Review before publication
An editor reviews every joke, story and meme before it is published. We may publish content right away or at a later time, edit it as described in section 5.3, or reject it — for example because it has already been published, is of poor quality, is offensive, is not a joke, infringes copyright or is spam. We let you know the outcome and give a reason when we reject something. While it waits for review, only you can see it, on your profile. Submitting content does not give you a right to have it published.
5.5. After publication
You cannot edit or withdraw a published joke, story or meme yourself. If you would like us to remove something you submitted, contact us through the Contact form; we will grant justified requests. Published content and comments stay on the site even if you delete your account, but without your name (section 12).
5.6. Comments, votes and reports
Comments are published immediately, without prior review. You can delete your own comment within five minutes of posting it; after that, contact us. Links are not allowed in comments or submitted content, and how often you can post is limited. Votes are shown only as a total: who voted how is not public.
6. Rules of conduct
On Jokes2Go you may not submit, publish or write in comments:
- hate speech: content that calls for violence, hatred or discrimination against people because of their race, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or any other characteristic. A joke that plays on a stereotype is not the same as a call to hatred; the editors decide where the line is;
- threats, harassment and personal insults aimed at other users or third parties;
- illegal content, and above all any sexual depiction of minors. We remove such content immediately and report it to the authorities;
- pornography and explicit depictions of violence;
- other people's personal data: addresses, phone numbers, private messages, photos of private individuals without their consent;
- content that infringes other people's copyright or other rights;
- spam: ads, links, chain messages and repeated identical content;
- impersonation: of another person, of the editors or of Jokes2Go;
- information you know to be false that could harm someone.
You may also not:
- influence voting or reports with fake accounts or automated tools;
- try to obtain other people's login or personal data, get around security measures or disrupt the site;
- download content automatically on a large scale (section 8).
7. Moderation, reports and appeals
7.1. How we moderate
- Jokes, stories and memes are reviewed by an editor before they are published (section 5.4).
- Comments are published immediately. An automatic word filter masks certain words in a comment with asterisks, does not allow a comment with prohibited words (for example words typical of spam) to be posted, and flags certain comments for an editor to review. The same filter can also reject a submitted joke, story or meme.
- Every piece of content and every comment has a “Report” option that logged-in users can use to alert the editors.
- Decisions to remove content or restrict accounts are made by people — our editors. The automatic filter does not decide about accounts.
7.2. Measures we may take
We may edit, hide or remove content that breaks these terms or the law. We may temporarily or permanently block the account of a user who breaks these terms; when deciding, we take into account how serious and how frequent the violations are. We report serious cases to the authorities.
7.3. Notice and reasons
When we reject submitted content or block an account, we tell you and give the reason. If we have removed your comment or content that was already published, you can ask for the reason through the Contact form.
7.4. Reporting illegal content
Anyone, even without an account, can report content they believe is illegal through the Contact form (topic “Report illegal or inappropriate content”). A report should include the address (URL) of the content, an explanation of why you consider it illegal, your name and email address, and a statement that you are making the report in good faith. We confirm receipt immediately on the site, review the report without undue delay and inform you of our decision by email.
7.5. Appeals
If you disagree with our decision about your content, your account or a report you made, you can appeal within six months through the Contact form (topic “Appeal a decision”). Appeals are reviewed by a person, not by an automated system, and we let you know the outcome.
7.6. Misuse of reports
We do not have to review reports and appeals that are clearly unfounded and repeated, and we may restrict the account they come from.
8. Our rights and reusing content
- The Jokes2Go name and logo, the design and code of the site, and the collection of content as a whole belong to us or are used by us with permission.
- You may share an individual joke, story or meme (with the “Share” option) or repost it on another website or social network, as long as you credit the source each time with a link to the Jokes2Go page you took it from.
- Without our prior written consent, you may not systematically or automatically download a substantial part of the content, build databases from it or use it to train artificial intelligence models. Normal indexing by search engines is allowed, in line with the robots.txt file.
- You may not pass yourself off as Jokes2Go or create websites, profiles or apps that give the impression of being ours. Our official profiles are listed in the site footer.
9. Notifications and the app
- We send emails that are necessary for your account to work: password reset instructions, confirmation codes and security alerts (for example about a change of your password or email address). You cannot turn these off.
- You receive notifications about comments and replies, and about the outcome of the review of content you submitted, by email, on the site (the bell) and, if you turn them on yourself, as push notifications. You turn them on and off in your settings. We may occasionally use the same channels to tell you about the service itself.
- You can install the site as an app. It stores the pages you opened most recently on your device so that you can read them offline.
- We do not send newsletters or advertising messages.
10. Availability and changes to the service
Jokes2Go is free and provided “as is”. We do our best to keep it running all the time and without errors, but we cannot guarantee that: the site may be temporarily unavailable because of maintenance, a fault or reasons beyond our control. We may change, add or remove features, and we may also discontinue the service; we will tell you about major changes in advance where possible.
We show ads on the site, labeled “Ad”: some we place ourselves, and the rest are served by Google AdSense, which first asks for your consent to advertising cookies. We are not responsible for the content of third-party ads or the sites they lead to. The details are in our Privacy policy.
11. Liability
- Whoever submitted content is responsible for it. We do not review comments before they are published, and we are not responsible for other people's content until we learn that it is illegal; once we do, we act without delay (section 7).
- The site may contain links to other websites. We have no control over their content and are not responsible for it.
- The content is meant for entertainment. We are not liable for damage caused by someone relying on it as fact or advice.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage arising from the use of the site or the inability to use it, from loss of data or from the actions of other users. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, or the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
- If you cause us damage by breaking these terms or by submitting content you have no right to, you must compensate us for it under the general rules on liability for damages.
12. Ending use and deleting your account
- You can delete your account yourself at any time in your settings (Account → Delete account). Deletion is permanent.
- Deletion removes your account, email address, password, passkeys, logins on all devices, notifications and public profile, and withdraws any content still waiting for review. Published jokes, stories, memes and comments stay on the site signed as “Deleted user”, and your votes remain without your name. Your username stays reserved permanently, and no one else can ever take it.
- We may temporarily or permanently block or close your account if you break these terms (section 7).
- The provisions on the permission for published content (section 5.3) and on liability (section 11) continue to apply after you stop using the site.
13. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms when the site, the law or the way we work changes. We publish the new version at this address, with the date from which it applies. We notify registered users of important changes at least 15 days in advance, with a notice on the site or by email. If you do not agree with the changes, you can delete your account before they take effect; by continuing to use the site, you accept the new terms. Where the changes require it, we will ask you to accept the new terms explicitly before you continue using your account.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Croatia. We will first try to resolve any disagreement amicably: contact us through the Contact form. Disputes that we cannot resolve amicably fall under the jurisdiction of the competent court in Varaždin, Croatia.
