You Know You're a Teacher

  • You think people should be required to get a government permit before being allowed to reproduce.
  • You want to slap the next person who says, "Must be nice to have all your holidays and summers free."
  • You believe "shallow gene pool" should have it's own box on the report card.
  • You believe the staff room should have a Valium salt lick.
  • When out in public, you feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their behavior.
  • When you mention "vegetables" and you're not talking about a food group.
  • You believe in aerial spraying of Prozac.
  • You wonder how some parents even managed to reproduce.
  • You can't have children of your own, because there is no name you could give a child that wouldn't bring on high blood pressure the moment you heard it.
  • You really encourage an obnoxious parent to check into home schooling.

Thoughts From A Teacher

Thoughts from a school teacher:

  1. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you are a mile away and you have his shoes.
  2. A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk I have a work station...
  3. I believe five out of four people have trouble with fractions.
  4. If quitters never win, and winners never quit, what fool came up with, "Quit while you're ahead?"
  5. Do Lipton Tea employees take coffee breaks?
  6. What hair color do they put on the driver's licenses of bald men?
  7. I was thinking that women should put pictures of missing husbands on beer cans.
  8. I have found at my age, going bra-less pulls all the wrinkles out of my face.
  9. I was thinking about how people read the Bible a whole lot more when they get older. Then it dawned on me they were cramming for their finals.
  10. Employment application blanks always ask who is to be notified in case of emergency. I think you should put "A very good doctor."

The Worm Experiment

A professor of chemistry wanted to teach his 5th grade class a lesson about the evils of alcohol, so he produced an experiment that involved a glass of water, a glass of whiskey and two worms.

"Now, class. Observe closely the worms," said the professor putting a worm first into the water. The worm in the water writhed about, happy as a worm in water could be.

The second worm, he put into the whiskey. It writhed painfully, and quickly sank to the bottom, dead as a doornail.

"Now, what lesson can we derive from this experiment?" the professor asked.

Little Johnny, who naturally sits in back, raised his hand and wisely, responded...

"Drink whiskey and you won't get worms!"

Move Your Cars

It had been snowing for hours when an announcement came over the high school intercom: "Will the students who are parked on University Drive please move their cars so that we may begin plowing."

Twenty minutes later there was another announcement: "Will the twelve hundred students who went to move "26 cars", return to class."

Map Reading

The teacher of the school geography class was lecturing on map reading.

After explaining about latitude, longitude, degrees and minutes the teacher asked: "Suppose I asked you to meet me for lunch at 23 degrees, 4 minutes north latitude and 45 degrees, 15 minutes east longitude...?"

After a confused silence, little Johnny volunteered - "I guess you'd be eating alone!"

Lipstick Problem

According to a radio report, a middle school in Oregon was faced with a unique problem. A number of girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints. Finally the principal decided that there had to be something done about it.

She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the custodian. She then explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every day. To demonstrate how difficult it was to clean the mirrors, she asked the custodian to clean one of the mirrors.

He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it into the toilet and then used it to clean the mirror. Needless to say, there have been no lip prints on the mirror since!
